Privacy Policy
Field Command is a fleet dispatch app for oilfield trucking companies. This page explains how we use drivers' location data and, for client site contacts who get text alerts, their mobile numbers.
When we track your location
Field Command tracks your location only while you are marked "On Duty" in the app. You explicitly enable this by tapping "Go On Duty." Tracking stops immediately when you tap "Go Off Duty," sign out, or uninstall the app.
Why we need "Always" location access
As a truck driver, your phone is often locked, in a cradle, or in your pocket while you operate heavy equipment. "Always" access lets Field Command continue serving your dispatch team while you're focused on driving safely:
- Dispatch visibility: Your dispatcher sees your real-time location on the Command Map so they can coordinate routes and priorities.
- Automatic well site check-ins: When you arrive at an assigned well pad, the app logs your arrival without requiring you to take your hands off the wheel to tap buttons.
- Accurate payroll: Route time is recorded from your actual GPS history, not manual timesheets — so you get paid correctly for every mile.
- Safety: If you go quiet unexpectedly, your dispatcher can see your last known location.
What data we collect
- GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude)
- Speed and heading
- Timestamp of each location ping
- Well site geofence entry and exit events
We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone audio, browsing history, or any other personal data through location tracking.
Who sees your location
Only dispatchers and administrators of your trucking company have access to your location history. While you're on a job, the site contact for that job can also see your truck's current position on a live map through the link in their dispatch text (that one truck, for that job only; the link stops showing the truck when the job is finished and expires after a few days). Field Command is a multi-tenant platform — other companies using Field Command cannot see your data, and we do not sell, share, or license driver location data to any third party.
How long we keep it
Real-time location pings are retained for 90 days to support dispatch review, payroll reconciliation, and billing disputes. After 90 days, precise GPS breadcrumbs are deleted; only aggregated route summaries (start location, end location, total miles, duration) are retained for company records.
Your controls
- Tap "Go Off Duty" at any time to stop tracking.
- Revoke location permission in iOS Settings → Field Command → Location. Tracking will stop; you will not be able to go On Duty until permission is re-granted.
- Request deletion of your location history by emailing sales@fieldcommand.co.
Text Messages (SMS)
Field Command dispatch alerts: Field Command texts the contact at an oil and gas well site (for example, a pumper or lease operator) about trucks that trucking companies using Field Command send to that site: when a truck is dispatched, on the way, running late, has arrived, or has finished the job, plus occasional job-status notes from the dispatcher. Each alert starts with "Field Command:" and names the trucking company. Dispatch texts include a link to a live map showing that one truck's location for that job only. The link stops showing the truck once the job is finished and expires after a few days. These texts are never used for marketing.
- How you sign up: You give your mobile number to the trucking company's dispatcher, by phone or in person, and say yes when asked: "Can Field Command text you updates about our trucks coming to your site, like when they’re dispatched, running late or arrive, plus job notes from dispatch? Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out." Only after you agree does the dispatcher turn on "Agreed to receive texts" for you in Field Command; nothing is texted before that. Your first text confirms the sign-up: "Field Command: You're signed up for Field Command dispatch alerts. Msg freq varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to end."
- Frequency and cost: Message frequency varies with job activity. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opting out: Reply STOP at any time (END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE and QUIT also work) and texts to your number stop. Reply START to turn them back on. You can also ask the trucking company's dispatcher to turn your texts off. Reply HELP for help.
- Your mobile number: Mobile numbers and text-message consent are used only to send these alerts. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or text-messaging opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Numbers are passed only to the messaging providers (phone carriers and SMS service providers) that deliver the texts, solely to deliver them.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
